Apple recently held their “Live Stream” event to release the supposed latest and greatest, iPhone 6. While Apple has done a wonderful job at creating hype and anticipation for every single one of their products. EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. It astounds me to this day how people can still get behind the supposed “innovations” that Apple is producing.
While Apple at one time was a trend-setter and first in technological developments, they are lacking the magic they once produced. With all that being said, they still manage to produce an unimaginable level of excitement from their devote fans and “fan boys.” Sure, if you compare the proverbial “apples to apples” (all pun intended) iPhone 5s vs. iPhone 6, then this new phone is AMAZING.
The new iPhone 6 features a new A8 processor, two size choices(4.7″ and 5.5″, which might I note: Steve Jobs said would NEVER happen with an iPhone), NFC payment capability, a new-ish design, improved camera and a 128GB model now available.
In comparison to the iPhone 4 and 5c/s, sure it has some decent improvements. This phone however, is far from earth shaking innovation in the smartphone world. My favorite summary of the iPhone vs. Android platform is here:
As you see, the iPhone 6 is just now gaining the tools and abilities that the Nexus 4 had two years prior. To then compare the iPhone 6 to say….a Samsung Galaxy S5 or the Samsung Note 4 (which will be released next month) would be embarrassing for Apple, which Samsung has gladly noted in their recent TV commercials.
When it comes to Apple or Android – there really is no fight. The Android platform out performs iPhone OS and their hardware in each and every aspect, in my humble opinion. However, to each their own and if you choose Apple, I won’t respect you any less.
